25.5 million trees have been planted on 7 thousand hectares in the Republic of Moldova under this year's national afforestation program. The assessment of the program was made by President Maia Sandu, IPN reports, referring to a press release of the Presidency.
"We have equipped foresters with 14 sets of new equipment, including tractors, mulchers and rotovators, we have signed a 200 million euro agreement with the European Investment Bank for the modernization of the forestry sector, and the other day we signed a decree ratifying the financing contract", the head of state said.
Maia Sandu expressed her appreciation to the more than 15 thousand volunteers and foresters involved, as well as development partners, for planting 26.5 million saplings: oak, ash, acacia, palm, elm, poplar and gladiolus.
"Together we are the Forest Generation and we are contributing to a healthy environment for Moldova", says Maia Sandu.
