Maia Sandu: ACUM-PSRM actions are not comparable with PDM-PSRM actions

The partnership between the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Party of the Socialists (PSRM) is designed to stop the process of reforming the Republic of Moldova that was started by the government that ruled from May until the start of November. Ex-Prime Minister Maia Sandu, in a video interview given to IPN News Agency, said the government led by Ion Chicu includes persons who worked for the PDM and PSRM and they already showed they are not good to do reforms.

Maia Sandu said the actions of the ACUM – PSRM partnership are not comparable with the actions of the PDM - PSRM partnership. Owing to the lack of reforms, the €30 million of the EU macro-financial assistance that was to be disbursed in December didn’t reach Moldova. The money promised by Romania also didn’t come.

“These are already very clear signals and you saw that the international community looks at this government with suspicion. Surely, a less reformist government wasn’t replaced with a more reformist government or a less honest or transparent government wasn’t replaced with a more transparent government,” stated the PAS leader.

The partnership between the PSRM and the PDM was designed to remove a government that was able to restore the foreign financing in less than two months. It restored the political support for the Republic of Moldova and placed back Moldova on the EU’s map. The PSRM and PDM struck a political deal as the representatives of these wanted to protect themselves from justice and to protect their schemes. The Government led by Ion Chicu will have to work hard to prove that it is not a Government of Dodon.

The politician also said that the move made by the PDM, which voted for the removal of the Sandu Government and the next day voted for the appointment of the Chicu Government, shows that this process was prepared beforehand. “It was their choice to go and reach an agreement with Igor Dodon, to vote in a government that we consider an electoral staff for Igor Dodon’s campaign prior to the presidential elections,” stated the PAS leader.

The interview “PAS president Maia Sandu’s view about the state of affairs in Moldovan society at the intersection of years” forms part of the series “Crossroads of years through the angle of the ideal of living better at home” that also involve President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Ion Chicu and the leaders of the main parliamentary parties Pavel Filip and Andrei Năstase.
