The accession to the European Union is the only way to protect democracy in Moldova. This is one of the statements made by President Maia Sandu at the European Political Community Summit in Spain, IPN reports.

President Sandu discussed the challenges faced on the European continent with leaders of EU member states and non-EU countries, expressing Moldova’s solidarity with the neighboring country.

“As half a year ago, when we hosted this meeting in the Republic of Moldova, alongside the other European partners, I reiterated our solidarity with Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky. The free world should continue offering support to Ukraine. Our security, of everyone, depends on this support,” stated the official.

Maia Sandu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova belongs to the European family and called on the European leaders to further support the country’s path to the EU and to combine forces against those who undermine the democratic processes.
