Luxembourgian Premier to pay first visit to Moldova

The Prime Minister of Luxemburg Xavier Bettel will make his first visit to Moldova since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, in June 1992, at the invitation of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, IPN reports.

The Government’s press service said the two Premiers, in a meeting, highlighted the intensification of the bilateral political dialogue and of the high-level contacts.

“We are interested in borrowing the best experiences and practices in areas in which Luxemburg has traditionally advanced expertise, such as internal affairs, justice, human rights and the penitentiary system”,” stated Chiril Gaburici.

For his part, Xavier Bettel confirmed the Luxembourgian Government’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance in adjusting the regulations from Moldova’s financial-banking system to the European standards and in continuing projects in this field through the Financial Technology Transfer Agency of Luxemburg.

So far Moldova and Luxemburg have signed three cooperation agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital gains.
