Lupu denies talks with Centrist Union
Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu has denied any talks on joining the Centrist Union Party to help it through the 2009 parliamentary elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Lupu told a briefing ahead of the first sitting of the Parliament's autumn session on Thursday he has never thought of following the scenario put forward last week by the president of the Centrist Union, Mihai Petrache.
“This party lacks an engine”, the Speaker said.
Lupu went on to add that such political speculations were customary in the period before any elections. “The parliamentary parties use the the Parliament's rostrum to boost their popularity. Those extra-parliamentary, while not having this opportunity, employ less skillful methods to make themselves visible. Some parties, which have spent a decade in obscurity, use different methods to make their way out of it”, Marian Lupu stated.
