The mayor of Lozova, a commune in Strășeni district, has formally notified the Central Electoral Commission that the local council hasn’t assembled for six consecutive months and therefore must be disbanded.
The CEC took note of the notification, but said that the mayor and the council had “sufficient legal instruments” to make peace and avoid the situation. The electoral authority said it will ask the National Anticorruption Center to investigate whether there has been any abuse of office on either side that prevented the council from assembling.
The State Chancellery will also be asked to verify the administrative acts that have led to this situation.
The CEC will decide on the dissolution after hearing back from the inspectors.
