Political pundit Igor Volnițchi suggested that the upcoming local elections of October 20 will further split the ranks of the ruling coalition, formed by the ACUM bloc and the Socialist Party. The latest chasm was formed after intense discussions about the election of Constitutional Court chair, Vladimir Țurcan, a Socialist MP prior to his recent appointment. In Volnițchi’s opinion, elections usually imply more instability and confrontation.

"The political forces that currently form the governing coalition must understand that their alliance is very fragile and may crumble under the influence of local elections and that it is high time to make certain conclusions: to sign certain documents, to conclude certain agreements, agree upon a "non-aggression" pact or at least make some verbal agreements", said Igor Volnițchi on the NTV Moldova show "Glavnîi vopros".

According to journalist Valeri Demidețki, due to the unstable relationship within the coalition, the Democratic Party, which has previously been in power, is waiting for the alliance members to quarrel. "The PDM is waiting for the new coalition to squabble, then to crumble, which will present an opportunity for the Democrats. This is absolutely normal from their perspective, they want to return to power, and the loss of trust of the electorate towards the current government is their only chance”, considers Valeri Demidețki.

The apple of discord that fueled heated discussions was the election of Vladimir Țurcan as chairman of the Constitutional Court. Yesterday, the Constitutional Court invalidated the request of Judge Domnica Manole to review the decisions of August 19, when Vladimir Țurcan was elected chairma of the CC, and Judge Liuba Șova caretaker for whenever Țurcan is absent.
