Speaker Igor Grosu discussed the areas in which Moldova needs expertise in a meeting with the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilyté-Nielsen in Vilnius. The areas include the justice sector reform, energy and cybersecurity. The interlocutors also discussed how Lithuania can share its experience in doing important reforms with Moldova, IPN reports.
The Moldovan official underlined that the legislative experience of Lithuania can be of assistance to the Republic of Moldova especially now that the country obtained the EU candidate status and is in the process of approximating the EU legislation.
“If we speak about our European course, this is a historic moment for the Republic of Moldova and I’m more than sure that we will become part of the European Union. It is only a matter of time and we are those who can decide and influence how quickly we will join the European family. This means that we must do reforms for us, not for Brussels or for Vilnius,” stated Igor Grosu.
He was assured that Lithuania is ready to help the Republic of Moldova on its path of European integration by all the possible methods. “The Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilyté-Nielsen is a good friend of the Republic of Moldova. These bilateral visits confirm that the Moldovan-Lithuanian relations have advanced the past two years,” noted the Moldovan Speaker.
Igor Grosu is paying an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania during April 3-5 at the invitation of his Lithuanian counterpart Viktorija Čmilyté-Nielsen.
