Light industry registered 18.2% increase in 2006
In 2006, the volume of the light industry output totalled about MDL 1.2 bln. This is an 18.2 % increase compared to the previous year. Light industry contributed 7.7% of the total industrial output, compared to 6% in 2005.
The share of the sales on the domestic market of the light industry production in Moldova rose from 3.1% in 2005, to 7.5% in 2006.
The branch ranks second in the country as regards exports of finite production, which increased from 26.8% of the country’s exports value in 2005 to 28.3% in nine months last year.
Authorities believe that the light industry is one of the perspective branches of the industry in Moldova. The enterprises “Ionel”, “Tricon”, “Dana” etc. are ranging among the largest exporters in the field. “Iuvas”, “Croitor-Tricon”, “Centrul de moda”, “Faurarul de Nord”, ‘Mioara”, “Tirotex” etc. are also well-known enterprises in the field.
In 2006, the industrial enterprises of all types of ownership manufactured production totalling about 22.2 bln lei, with a decrease of about 7% as against the previous year.
