MP Iurie Darda, who is the head of the Rascani local organization of the Liberal Party, announced that he decided to defect from the Liberal group and to serve as an independent, IPN reports.

On a social networking site, the MP wrote that he has been subject to denigration and does not want the Liberal Party’s image to be affected because of these acts. “I don’t want these denigration actions to hamper the development of the strategies for keeping the European course pursued by the Liberal Party,” wrote Iurie Darda.

As an independent MP, Iurie Darda said he will deliver on the promises made to the people during the election campaign, for which he gained votes, and will promote the European integration and the democratic values.

The Liberal parliamentary group will now have ten members.
