Liberal Faction accuses Chisinau Council majority of refusing to give land to build social dwellings

Liberal Faction accuses Chisinau Council (CMC) majority of refusing to give land to build social dwellings, Info-Prim Neo reports. Municipal councilor and Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu told a news conference on Wednesday the CMC majority, and chairman Eduard Musuc, do not put on the agenda drafts related to hot problems of Chisinau residents, and if other councilors insist to put them on the agenda, the majority votes for them for cameras, and then returns them to committees. So, according to Ghimpu, the majority factions rejected drafts on providing land in the streets of Nicolae Testemitanu, Ghioceilor and Doina to build dwellings for budget earners and young families, through the social mortgage program, at a price 50% lower than on the market. “The CMC majority – PCRM, PPCD, PSD and PUM – do not want to adopt these draft decisions because they have certain interests,” Mihai Ghimpu stated. The head of constructions direction, Vasile Panfil, has said the municipal mortgage is a new program for the Chisinau municipality, due to which the public servants will be able to buy apartments at 450 euros per sq. m. On N. Testemitanu str. they plan to build an entire neighborhood of 200-300 apartments. Vasile Panfil says the works can start 6 months after the CMC gives the land. The project envisages to build 2,000 apartments annually.
