Lib-Dem MPs complain of obstruction

The Parliament meetings this week were postponed in order to delay the initiatives of the Liberal Democratic Party’s faction, said Lib-Dem MPs at a press conference on Tuesday. They called on all politicians, especially from parliamentary parties, to “oppose the offensive of oligarchic circles who want to impoverish the country”, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We have issued similar signals before, but received harsh answers. We think that only by publicly informing about the situation we can change it”, said Valeriu Strelet, head of the PLDM faction. According to the parliamentarian, the AIE misunderstandings cannot be discussed within the AIE Council because the PDM representatives don’t want it. He added that the AIE Council discussed only minor and less significant issues, but when something important was brought into question, such as the reform of state-owned companies, things were always delayed. “PLDM realized that in the governmental structures, there are political forces that only simulate reforms, but maintain the old system. These are politicians who, during the Communists government, have fully benefited of the system and who are the authors of fraud schemes. PDM’s role in promoting some interests is well-known”, declared Strelet. The Liberal-Democrat MPs stress that Parliament sessions cannot be postponed without the vote of the majority, like it happened last week. “It’s not the Speaker who cancels the meeting. This is a function of the Permanent Bureau. They want to delay PLDM’s proposals regarding ferrous metals and the disestablishment of economic courts”, said the parliamentarian Simion Furdui. His party colleague, Veaceslav Ionita, said that attempts to reform the judiciary, the economy and other sectors were seriously opposed even within AIE, by those who control these sectors. “Moldova suffered and still suffers because of fraud schemes. Instead of fighting them, we increase them”, said Ionita. The conflict between PLDM and PDM has come into the spotlight for quite a while and it aggravated last week, when the PLDM leader Vlad Filat called Vlad Plahotniuc, PDM vice-president, the “puppeteer” who tried to impose his own rules. The statement was made as a result of the Franzeluta scandal. The Prime Minister Filat first spoke about the “puppeteer”, without naming him, in the electoral campaign, when he claimed the “puppeteer” was behind Mihai Godea’s departure from PLDM.
