The works to build the Leova-Iargara water pipeline that will supply water to 28 communities in Leova district will be completed in October. Iargara town will be connected to the pipeline immediately, while the villages Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui at the second stage. All the communities will be connected to the water supply system by the end of 2020, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated during a visit made to the building site.
About 20,000 people will have access to modern water supply services. The project, to the value of about 61 million lei, will help modernize the water supply services, prevent environmental pollution and reduce risks to the population’s health, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service
The project envisions the building of a 22.9km long pipeline, two pumping stations and a re-pumping station. The wastewater treatment station will be modernized. Two undergoing reservoirs will be rehabilitated and two new ones will be constructed. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Government of Germany and the National Regional Development Fund and with the involvement of the Leova District Council .
While on his visit to Leova district, Pavel Filip had a meeting with local entrepreneurs. He told them he approves of the diversity and particularities of the businesses developed in the district. Over 8,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, mainly agricultural ones, are registered here. The Premier pleaded for a constructive dialogue with the entrepreneurs of the region so as to learn where the Executive can intervene to facilitate the entrepreneurial activity.
The businessmen spoke about the difficulties they face in their work, naming the lack of an internal market for selling agricultural products, the problems encountered in cleaning the uncultivated farmland, excessive taxation on the import of modern agricultural machinery and deficiencies in accessing European grants.
Pavel Filip assured them that the presented problems will be deal with, including through the platform of the Prime Minister’s Economic Council.
