The MPs opened the 2025 spring session of Parliament with the honouring of the state flag and anthem, together with the large choir "Musical Moments" of "Onisifor Ghibu" Theoretical High School of Chisinau, winner of multiple national and international awards, IPN reports.

"Let it be a year in which we confirm that the Republic of Moldova can go unhindered on the chosen path and that no one will be able to divert it. We want a peaceful, prosperous and free Moldova in the great European family," said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

According to him, those who want Moldova to fail no longer stop at deceiving words and propaganda, but are taking action. For example, they left 300,000 citizens in the cold and darkness, but with the help of European friends, solutions were identified.

"We here, in Parliament, have a very important role in everything that is related to the European agenda. And this year, our work and the work of recent years must bear fruit. Now our common goal must be to open negotiations on the first cluster of fundamental values, in the spring of this year," said the official.

Parliament has two ordinary sessions per year. The spring session begins in February and ends in July, while the autumn session starts in September and closes in December. The 2024 autumn session of Parliament ended on December 26 and, on January 29-30, the MPs came together for an extraordinary session, at the request of Igor Grosu.
