Legal commission approves Urecheanu as candidate for Audit Office president
The parliamentary legal commission for appointments and immunities on April 20 approved the candidacy of the ex-leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu for president of the Audit Office. A final decision is to be taken by the MPs in the April 21 sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Communist members of the commission voted against, saying Serafim Urecheanu does not meet the requirements for the given post. They argued that the ex-leader of the AMN, who is now a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, earlier obtained Romanian nationality and it is not known if he still holds Moldovan nationality.
The Communist lawmakers also said that Serafim Urecheanu turned 61 and will soon retire. Moreover, he does not have a length of service of 10 years in financial administration, as required by law.
According to the Communist MPs, Serafim Urecheanu was proposed for the post of Audit Office president so that he settles an account with the companies that inconvenience the government.
