Last stage of merger of PUN and PLDM

The National Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDMP) in a meeting approved the contract for the merger with the National Unity Party (PUN), this being the last stage of the process. There was also approved the new composition of the Board and the new composition of the Central Standing Bureau of the PLDM, IPN reports.

There were also elected four deputy chairpersons of the party. These are Iulian David, Lidia Sanduleac, Sergiu Burlacu, and Ruslan Verbitski.

“The meeting analyzed the political and socioeconomic situation in the Republic of Moldova, with the speakers stating their concern about the continuous worsening of the situation in all the areas. The members of the PLDM expressed their confidence that only a professional team that is really dedicated to the interests of the people can help the Republic of Moldova overcome the profound crisis in which it is now. All the speakers expressed their conviction that the local general elections of November 5, 2023 should be a first step towards taking the country back and giving it a new chance,” the PLDM noted in a press release.

The meeting also assessed the party’s preparedness for the local elections. The PLDM decided to fully become involved in the elections with the slogan “Moldova with people! Moldova for people!”.

The merger was approved earlier, in the congresses of the two parties. Also, in the congress of the Liberal-Democrats, ex-Premier Vlad Filat was reelected chairman of the PLDM.
