The last four candidates for the post of mayor of Bălți municipality submitted the required documents to the Bălți District Electoral Council. MP Marina Tauber was fielded by Șor Party, while Daria Fiodorova by the Party “Ours”. Arina Spătaru intends to run as an independent and collected signatures in her support, as the legislation provides, while Vladimir Dachi, of the Political Party “Noi”, replaces Mihai Rizea.
Svetlana Guivan, consultant of the Bălți District Electoral Council, has told IPN that the Council on October 22 decided not to register former Romanian MP Mihai Rizea, of the Political Party “Noi” (Mihai Cristian according to the copy of a temporary identity card issued by the Moldovan authorities).
To date, the Bălți District Electoral Council registered the following candidates for mayor: Boris Marcoci, of the Party of Action and Solidarity; Ion Starciuc, of the Party “Building Europe at Homer”; Maxim Burduja, of the National Unity Party, Alexandr Nesterovschi, of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, independent Nicolai Grigorishin, Ivan Tulburi, of the Liberal Party, Nicolae Chirilciuc, of Moldova’s Patriots Party, and Fiodor Ghelici, of the Working People’s Party.
October 22 was the last day when candidates could apply to be registered as electoral contenders.
The snap mayoral elections in the municipality of Bălți were set for November 21.
