Landowners to get smart money for giving up fields for railway construction
41 land owners from Sangera town, on whose plots a portion of the Revaca-Cainari railway was constructed, will be offered 1.1 million lei compensations. This decision was taken on Wednesday, May 24, by the Cabinet Council.
In the explanatory note of the decision it is mentioned that the financial resources were not allocated in 2005 because the land owners were either abroad, or didn’t brought to completion their inheritance documents.
The money will be taken from the Government’s Reserve Fund and will be returned after an eventual rectification of the budget for 2006.
The railway Revaca-Cainari crosses the agricultural plots of over 100 landowners from Sangera. The majority of them agreed to receive new lands or to be financially indemnified. A part of the landowners did not agree though with the promised sums of money and used different protest methods. According to them, the authorities violated their property right.
The Revaca-Cainari railway portion was constructed on the initiative of the Railways of Moldova. The trains to circulate on this portion will poin for the North of Moldova, avoiding the Transnistrian region. The problem appeared after the administration of Tiraspol blocked in 2004 the railway in Tighina.
