The quality of Chisinau’s lakes is not complying with microbiological and chemical-sanitary standards, so that the Preventive Medicine Center (PMC) of Chisinau municipality recommended to the persons responsible for these zones to prohibit swimming and fishing. Iurie Panzaru, the head of the PMC announced on Monday, at Mayoralty’s meeting that although warnings prohibiting swimming have been posted up, people ignore them and in this way they risk to contact different diseases. Doctors warn that swimming in the lakes of Chisinau is dangerous and can lead to serious diarrhea-linked diseases. The bad quality of waters is caused by the garbage from all over the city. The situation is worsening by the fact that dog’s swimming in the lakes of Chisinau is not prohibited. According to the recent laboratory data, the water of Nistru River complies with the microbiological and chemical-sanitary standards and swimming in the river is not prohibited. According to Panzaru, during last Saturday and Sunday, sanitary doctors organized several inspections and found out many infringements in the resort zones, including on the bad quality of the sand. The interim Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu told to the responsible persons of the Green Spaces management about the necessity of fitting the lakes of the city. They said that all the necessary works are performed in due time and that there are no reasons to worry about.
