Vadim Krasnoselski held a meeting with Thomas Lenk, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process. The Tiraspol leader requested OSCE representatives' assistance in restoring the functionality of the "5+2" negotiation format, IPN reports.
"The collapse of the '5+2' format and the lack of direct negotiations between high-ranking officials from Tiraspol and Chisinau are generating negative consequences, which could prove to be irreparable. One example is the energy crisis, caused precisely by the absence of a systemic dialogue," stated Vadim Krasnoselski.
The "5+2" format was launched in 2005 as a diplomatic negotiation platform aimed at finding a solution to the Transnistrian conflict. Over the years, the format was suspended and resumed multiple times for various reasons. In 2022, the "5+2" format was frozen again following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as both countries are parties to the format.
