The President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski, who is in Moldova on an official visit, voiced hope that the results achieved by the Moldovans will motivate the other member countries of the Eastern Partnership to implement reforms. In a news conference held after the meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, Bronisław Komorowski said he was pleased to find out that Poland imports the largest quantities of Moldovan wine among the EU member states. He also said that the Polish investments in the sugar industry of Moldova are not only a support for the country’s economy, but also a good area for expanding Poland’s capital. The Polish President said that his country is open to foreign investments. He urged the Moldovans to invest in Poland as there is no obstacle hindering them in this respect. The official stated that Poland pleads for granting a visa-free regime with the EU to Moldova as soon as possible and expressed his conviction that the talks, which reached an advanced level, will lead to the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union at the EaP Summit that will take place next autumn. Nicolae Timofti said they agreed to strengthen the bilateral dialogue in a number of areas. He thanked the Polish people for the support provided in promoting reforms and covering the path to European integration and for the considerable assistance in dealing with this year’s drought.
