Constituency No. 15 comprises the town of Cornesti together with other 16 settlements in Ungheni district, as well as the town of Calarasi and other 15 localities in the eponymous district. Voters will be casting their ballots at the polling stations 15/1 through 16/64. The candidate to poll most votes takes the constituency regardless of the turnout.
The first candidate listed on the ballot is the Democratic Party’s Nicolae Ciubuc, a lawyer by training and currently serves as Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment. Previously he was director of the Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Subsidies. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of JSC “Franzeluta”, chairman of the Board of Directors of “The Center for Standardization and Experimentation on the Quality of Canned Goods”, and chairman of the “Moldagroteh” State Enterprise’s Board. For the last two years, the candidate declared salaries worth more than 737 thousand lei, but also more than 32 thousand lei incomes obtained from the activity of state representative in commercial companies. Ciubuc also declared 7,000 lei in fees from the Nisporeni district council. He owns a building lot, a house, a car and other real property.
The second is the Party of Socialists’ Ştefan Bolea. He runs the SGALL Household Farm. According to alege2019.md, the candidate started his professional career in Soviet Moldavia’s Interior Ministry. He worked as a youth and sports instructor, but also as a mechanic. He went into the farming business in 1996 at the helm of the Sadova Household Farm. Ştefan Bolea is the president of the PSRM Calarasi territorial organization and member of the PSRM National Council. Following local elections in June 2015, Stefan Bolea became a Socialist district councilman and town councilman in Calarasi. For the last two years, the candidate declared as little as over 11,000 lei in fees and 8,000 lei in pensions. He owns four building lots, a house and two cars.
The third is the Shor Party’s Olga Vlasenco, accountant at SRL Biresat. She is the president of the Russian Community of Calarasi and board member of the Congress of Russian Communities in Moldova. For the last two years, the candidate declared only salaries from the main job amounting to over 142 thousand lei. She didn’t declare any assets or property.
Next is ACUM electoral bloc’s Igor Munteanu, expert in regional public policy and European affairs. The candidate is a lecturer, chairman of the board of directors and formerly executive director of the think-tank “Viitorul”. Igor Munteanu served as Ambassador of Moldova to the United States, Canada and Mexico during 2010-2015. In the last two years he and his wife declared incomes of over 1.2 million lei. The candidate owns a house and a car.
The fifth is the Liberal Party’s Iurie Chirinciuc, economist by traning and currently manager at the company “Euroatlant” SRL. In 2008 he founded and managed the football club Costuleni. Between 2011 and 2015 he was a district councilor in Ungheni, and from November 2014 to July 2015 he was a Liberal MP, before being appointed Minister of Transport and Roads in the Streleţ Government. He was suspended from office in May 2017 in a corruption probe. In the last two years, the Chirinciucs declared salaries worth more than 156,000 lei and over 38,000 Romanian lei. Apart from salaries, the spouses received 5.8 million lei and over 357,000 Romanian lei in dividends. The family owns an agricultural plot, one building lot, and other property. The candidate also declared two apartments, a car and other assets.
The final slot on the ballot is occupied by the Communist Party’s Valeriu Sava, an engineer and political scientist by training. He is first secretary of the Calarasi Communist Committee. In the last two years, the candidate earned over 188,000 lei. He also declared two farm plots, an apartment, a house and a car.
