Know your candidates: Constituency no. 13 Șoldanesti & Rezina

Constituency No. 13: Soldanesti, Rezina (Rezina town) comprises the town of Rezina and other 18 settlements in Rezina district as well as the town of Soldanesti and 18 localities from the district of Soldanesti. Voters will cast their ballots at the polling stations 13/1 through 13/60. The candidate polling most votes will win the constituency regardless of the turnout.

The first on the ballot is the Democratic Party’s Eleonora Graur, economist and accounting specialist. She is the incumbent Rezina district head. Recently she became a member of Parliament filling in a seat vacated by a fellow Democrat. Previously Eleonora Graur served as head of the Department of Information Systems, Standards and Educational Registers at the Ministry of Education and Youth, as well as head of the Finance and Accounting Department of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. For the last two years, the candidate has declared salaries worth over 279,000 lei. Besides, she owns 14 agricultural plots, a house, an apartment, a garage and a car.

The second is the Shor Party’s Leonid Nauc, lawyer and engineer. He is the manager of the Codru Hotel owned by the Orhei municipality. For the last two years, the candidate and his wife declared salaries worth more than 210 thousand lei. The couple also owns a car. For the provision of services, the electoral competitor received from the party over 4600 lei.

The third is the Socialist Party’s Valeriu Ciorici, a retired economist and accounting specialist. According to vote2019.md, between 2001 and 2002 he was director of the Rezina District Social Insurance Administration. Between 2002 and 2003 he was the sub-prefect of Orhei County for Rezina district. During 2003-2011 he served as Rezina District Head, and between 2011 and 2012 he was deputy head of the district. Until 2014, Valeriu Ciorici was a member of the Party of Communists. For the last two years, Mr. Ciorici and his wife declared salaries worth over 205 thousand lei. The spouses also declared income from pensions and other social benefits amounting to more than 173 thousand lei. The family owns eight building lots, six agricultural plots, a house, a garage and other real estate.

The fourth is ACUM bloc’s Serghei Cataranciuc, an applied mathematics professor with a doctor’s degree at the State University of Moldova. He and his wife declared salaries worth over 625 thousand lei for the last two years, earning an additional 189,000 lei from other sources. The family owns a house, three apartments, a country house, two garages and a car.

The fifth is the Communist Party’s Elena Macrii, a retired social worker. In 2005, Elena Macrii joined the PCRM and soon became the secretary of the local party cell in Saharna Noua village, as well as a local councilwoman representing PCRM in the same Rezina village. For the last two years, the candidate declared incomes worth more than 26 thousand lei in pensions and other benefits. The candidate owns five farm plots, a house and a car.

The sixth is the independent candidate Ion Perciun, a currently unemployed urban engineer. He is a member of the Rezina District Council. Together with his wife, he declared incomes worth over 101 thousand lei in 2017. The family owns a house, an apartment, but also other real property.

The final slot on the ballot is occupied by the National Liberal Party’s Galina Andrieș, an unemployed teacher. As per her declaration, she had an income of over 17,000 lei in the last two years. She also owns an apartment and a car.
