Kiril Moțpan: Moldova always lost in dialogue with Russia and Transnistria

PPPDA MP Kiril Moțpan said the situation in the Security Zone remains worrisome. Regrettably, the Transnistrian authorities make headway in satisfying their demands and are very decided to obtain new advantages from Moldova, IPN reports.

In a press briefing after the meeting of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order, which centered on the checkpoints that were illegally set up by the Transnistrian authorities in the Security Zone, the MP said the Republic of Moldova always lost in the dialogue with the Russian Federation and Transnistria. The state institutions should have a clear position on what is going on in the Transnistrian region.

The MP welcomed the commission’s meeting, even if this wasn’t held in Cocieri, as the PPPDA demanded. He said that they discussed the case of the Nistru war veteran who was thrown a cocktail Molotov in his yard on July 28, being threatened that a grenade launcher will be aimed at him if he continues to protest.

Also, the minister of defense was asked if he has information about the armament possessed by the Transnistrian bodies and the size of the forces dislocated there and how could mobile and stationary posts be placed in strategic areas in the Security Zone. The minister of foreign affairs was asked if Transnistrian officials possess diplomatic passports of the Republic of Moldova and was requested to speak about the actions taken so far to inform the foreign institutions about the developments in that area. Kiril Moțpan asked that the press should be allowed access at next meeting centering on the illegal checkpoints.

PPPDA MP Stela Macari said that she travelled to Dubăsari district with her colleagues last Sunday and met with veterans and locals there. The citizens are indignant at the passive attitude of the current Government that is directly responsible for the worsening of the situation in the Security Zone. The inhabitants of Dubăsari district expect officials of the Bureau of Reintegration and MPs to travel more often to the scene to see the consequences caused by the separatist regime and to find solutions to remove the illegal checkpoints.
