By six votes for and five votes against, the Șișcani local council decided to close the kindergarten in Drojdieni, which forms part of the same commune. The parents who went to demand that the councilors should not close the kindergarten say they are disappointed and do not know how they will cope from now on. They are afraid to allow their children to be taken to another village that is 4 km away. If they leave them home, they will be unable to go to work and to look after the house.
Iurie Postu, one of the parents, said he disapproves of the taken decision and disagrees with the reasons invoked by the commune’s administration: the poor state of the building, the low number of children and the lack of investments for rehabilitating the kindergarten. “It’s very hard. I have to feed five persons with two hands. They told us they will provide a minibus for transporting the children to the kindergarten in the neighboring village, but all the parents are against. We offered to lend a hand, to collect money for repair works, but the situation didn’t change,” related the parent.
Drojdieni kindergarten educator Cristina Gurulea, who is the mother of a child aged four, will have to transfer her job to the neighboring village. She said she is not sure she can do this and if she will take the child to another kindergarten. “They told us that if there are about 50 beneficiaries, they will open the kindergarten. They sent us home to conceive children and to wait for the necessary investments,” stated the woman.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, mayor Vladimir Bodean said the building that hosted the kindergarten is old and he could not attract investments to renovate it. “I brought experts from the Moldova Social Investment Fund and tried hard to improve the conditions at this kindergarten, but didn’t manage to,” noted the mayor. He added that investments were made in the two kindergartens in the neighboring villages to which the children from Drojdieni are to be transferred and appropriate conditions were created there.
