The electronic signature will be valid for a period of five years, as opposed to two years until now, Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization Iurie Țurcanu stated in a news conference. The official noted the goal of such a move is to popularize online services among Moldovans, IPN reports.
Iurie Țurcanu said the online public services expand in Moldova. By promoting the digitization of public services and reducing direct interaction between citizens and public functionaries, the authorities aim to root out corruption in Moldova.
“The electronic documents, being official papers with legal power, can be obtained without going to the offices of providers and can be transmitted at a higher speed than the paper documents. There are no copies and original documents. All the documents signed electronically are considered originals,” stated the official.
The electronic signature valid for five years will cost 650 lei and will soon become available also to the Moldovans from the diaspora through the agency of diplomatic missions.
“We hope the extension of the period of validity of the electronic signature will lead to a rise in the number of users, including among citizens from the diaspora, who will be able to use electronic services remotely. The extension of the period of validity of the public key certificate is possible from today through www.semnătura.md,” said Gheorghe Pantaz, director of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service.
In Moldova, there are over 200,000 active users of the electronic signature. The citizens and business entities can use the electronic signature for a wide range of public services, such as submission of the electronic fiscal statement, application for Civil Status documents, e-Apostille and e-Licenses, electronic reporting to CNAM (e-CNAM) and CNAS (e-CNAS).
