Iurie Rosca and Valeriu Ciobanu stage street fight

Nistru war veteran Valeriu Ciobanu and former head of the Christian Democratic People’s Party Iurie Rosca started to fight in the street. None of them admit to beginning the fight and refuse to say the reasons.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Iurie Rosca said the incident happened in front of the National Library, where there was to start a cultural event dedicated to 45 years of the foundation of the journal “Moldova”. “I was talking to Iurie Colesnic (historian). At a certain moment, an old acquaintance of mine appeared from behind - Valeriu Ciobanu. He started to insult me and tried to hit me, but he did not punch me, but my brother Iacob Rosca. A number of men who were there immobilized him and called the police. Police officers came in about half an hour,” said Iurie Rosca.
“He was under the influence of alcohol and cried that he will ultimately cut my throat with a knife,” he added.
Valeriu Ciobanu has told Info-Prim Neo that he is not to blame for what happened as Iurie Rosca and his brother Iacob Rosca pushed him and kicked him when he fell. He expressed his bewilderment at the fact that the police officers who came on the spot took him to the police station, but did not touch the Rosca brothers. Valeriu Ciobanu also said that at the police station he filed a complaint against them and will go to the Prosecutor’s Office tomorrow to submit another complaint.
General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo that the call to the police was made at 15.07. A police patrol traveled to the scene as soon as possible. Valeriu Ciobanu was taken to the police station No. 1 for depositions. Iurie Rosca will have to do the same.
