The Democratic parties must show to the voters that they are united, said Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. He noted that he does not see how the ruling parties can take part in elections separately, IPN reports.

“As regards the immediate period, we surely must expect first of all special political responsibility. I refer to the Democratic parties that must find the best formulas to keep the current development course of Moldova. I’m absolutely convinced that the continuity of our European course depends on our behavior in the campaign so that the responsibility is huge for all the parties that support this course,” Iurie Leanca said in an interview for Radio Free Europe.

The Premier stated that he cannot say with maximum certitude if an electoral bloc is the optimal solution. “Not enough assessments have been carried out in this respect so far. The parties are to do this. At first sight, the electoral bloc provides a series of advantages that could meet the expectations of the voters of the Democratic parties. Surely a more profound analysis is needed to take such a decision and I’m convinced that this analysis, which was already started, will allow us to take a decision in the near future, based again on people’s expectations,” said Iurie Leanca.

He also said that he saw openness for a sincere and objective discussion on this subject. “Surely, I spoke with colleagues from my party and from other parties who showed willingness to have a discussion on the topic. The most important thing is to find the formula that would enable the Democratic parties to transmit a very clear message to the voters – that we will go together in elections and after them as we have common objectives, tasks and principles. We should not focus on elements where our viewpoints are different,” stated Iurie Leanca.

The Premier added that he is absolutely sure that a war between the Democratic parties could cause a serious problem and he does not even want to think about such an involution.
