The Centru Court changed the itinerary of the march staged by the LGBT community, at the request of the mayor of Chisinau. On May 19, the sexual minorities will march from the State University to the Green Theater in “Valea Morilor” Park. Representatives of the Information Center “Genderdoc-M”, which organized the event, said they will comply with the court decision, but will dispute it in the ECHR, IPN reports.
“We are citizens who comply with the law and will thus go on the route set by the court,” said “Genderdoc-M” executive director Anastasia Danilova.
The Center’s lawyer Doina Ioana Straisteanu said that she anticipated such a decision. “We will file a complaint to the ECHR. I’m indignant at the professional abilities of this judge. I was informed about the trial half an hour before the start. He didn’t even allow me to familiarize myself with the case,” she stated.
The lawyer added that Dorin Chirtoaca’ application to court is nothing else but a move aimed at improving his image and gathering votes for the Liberal Party in the eventuality of early elections.
Judge Victor Orindas said he sent the invitation to the trial to “Genderdoc-M” by fax one day earlier.
The Chisinau City Hall’s representative Daniela Lavko said the application was submitted after they received letters from people, asking banning the march. “We tried to avoid public disorder. We consider that the organization’s rights weren’t infringed,” she stated.
Initially, the sexual minorities were to go on a match along Stephan the Great Blvd, from the Ministry of the Interior up to the Government Building.
