Irina Vlah launches campaign of consultations with citizens

After proposing to the authorities to hold a referendum on neutrality, Irina Vlah decided to start a campaign of consultations with citizens, IPN reports.

Irina Vlah, chairwoman of the new political party "Heart of Moldova", created after the presidential election in which she ran as an independent, provided a number of arguments in favor of the need for a plebiscite and consultations, respectively.

"The constitutional principle of neutrality is questioned by particular politicians, including those in positions of great responsibility. The opinion expressed by citizens at the referendum would put an end to polemics and statements that Moldova should renounce its neutrality and join a military alliance."

Irina Vlah is disappointed by the lack of reaction from the Moldovan authorities to the initiative to organize a referendum simultaneously with next year's parliamentary elections: "The authorities did not have the capacity to realize the essence of the initiative and ignored it, and this convinces us that those who now represent power in the Republic of Moldova have other interests than the citizens have."

Therefore, the leader of the "Heart of Moldova" party counts on the future government, which will be installed after the 2025 parliamentary elections, to start to take "external steps for the international recognition of the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova as, having solid international guarantees, the state can ensure that the principle of neutrality becomes fully functional and guarantees peace."

In the next period, consultations will be held with citizens, a campaign that Irina Vlah assumes: "We will go to localities, will discuss with people the importance of strengthening neutrality, the attitude of the authorities towards strengthening the status of neutrality and, at the end of the campaign, we will publicly announce the next actions."

This is the third time this year that Irina Vlah's team carries out campaigns to consult citizens. "The previous two campaigns were successful, the proposals and ideas formulated were implemented," reads the press release issued by the "Heart of Moldova" party.
