Irina Vlah, who announced her intention to run as an independent candidate for President, said that lately she has been constantly sent messages saying “that the fear of the regime makes them to take into account the scenario of her non-admission to the electoral race”. “I understand that instructions will be given and pressure will be exerted for Irina Vlah not to be registered as a candidate for President,” Vlah stated in a news briefing hosted by IPN.
In this situation, Irina Vlah says that she reserves the right to address observers, those who monitor the events during the electoral period and the electoral campaign, including international observers, in the coming days.
She noted that she will directly request that observers should get involved and closely monitor how the documents and lists of signatures that she will submit to the Central Election Commission will be examined. :I can defend myself from the abuses of the government only in two ways: by counting on the fairness of observers, especially foreign ones, and by counting on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who support me. In this way, I send a clear message to the government: do not play with fire because the consequences can be completely different from those you expect! You came to power democratically, be good and respect democracy. Otherwise, you will go to the cemetery of history in the most shameful way possible,” said Irina Vlah.
She also said that in recent weeks she had been followed by employees of the special services. “There were situations like that, for example, in Soroca, when I simply had to approach them and ask them openly why they behave so badly, so defiantly, especially since those I considered officers with particular uprightness and professional dignity continued to provide erroneous information to the government’s pocket press, which again made attempts to denigrate me,” stated Irina Vlah.
According to her, pressure is being exerted on those operating in the print industry and also in the street advertising industry. “The veiled message was: Work with whoever you want, but not with Irina Vlah. This once again shows to me that I am perceived by the government and personally by Maia Sandu as enemy number one, who must be blocked at all costs. I want to emphasize in this way as well: for me there is no greater pride than to be the number one enemy of the regime that impoverished the people and destroyed the country,” said Irina Vlah.
