IREX-CPP to implement 9 local projects on electoral education

On February 27, IREX-CPP will organise a Roundtable for presenting Projects on Electoral Education, implemented within the frameworks of the Moldova Citizen Participation Program (CPP). According to the organisers, the purpose of the roundtable is to inform partners and mass-media about the launching of IREX-CPP’s Electoral Education Projects and the impact of electoral education initiatives on the increase of the participation rate of the citizens in 2007 local elections. 9 local NGOs that implement electoral education projects, will participate in the event, as well as the Culture and Press Attaché of the US Embassy in Moldova, the chairman of the Central Electoral Committee, representatives of USAID, IREX, national NGOs and the Ministry of Education and Youth. IREX-CPP selected Electoral Education projects following a grant contest. Out of the 176 solicitation letters presented in the competition, 9 projects initiated by local NGOs were selected. The programme is financed by the US Government via the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and administrated by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) in Moldova.
