IPRE about Țîrdea’s assertions: They are erroneous, manipulative and tendentious

Socialist MP Bogdan Țîrdea, who today launched a book about the financing of nongovernmental organizations, said that he uses public reports, but actually had a series of interpretations. The conclusions formulated by Bogdan Țîrdea are erroneous, manipulative and tendentious, executive director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) Iulian Groza stated in response to the MP’s assertions, IPN reports.

“I consider this is a concerted action in an electoral context aimed at spoiling the image of the nongovernmental players and the development partners of the Republic of Moldova that monitor and contribute to the democratic processes and good governance in the Republic of Moldova. We condemn these and other recent attacks on civil society, think tanks and the development partners working in the Republic of Moldova,” said Iulian Groza, being quoted in a statement issued by the IPRE.

According to him, such attacks are typical of nondemocratic, corrupt and authoritarian regimes. They should be immediately stopped by the national responsible authorities. Those who are interested in the work done and funds managed by the IPRE can find the relevant information on the Institute’s website.

Iulian Groza noted that the annual contributions paid by the IPRE into Moldova’s state budget in 2015-2019 and during the first ten months of 2020 total 7 846 918 lei or about 1.43 million lei a year. “So, from the funds obtained from the development partners during our period of activity, the IPRE contributes about 120,000 lei a month or 4,000 lei daily to the National Public Budget,” runs the statement.
