Asked about their political affiliation, Vlad Batrîncea, one of the MPs who proposed Țurcan and Manole, said there are no procedural provisions prohibiting political appointees. He added that Parliament trusts the new judges will be independent and professional. At the same meeting, the oath of office was also taken by the Government’s appointees Liuba Șova and Nicolae Roșca, and the High Council of the Judiciary’s appointees Sergei Turcan and Eduard Ababei.
Carriers are concerned about the small number of export permits for the Russian Federation. Although it has been discussed with the Russian side about increasing this quota up to 20 thousand authorizations, there have been speculations that only a thousand authorizations will be issued. The situation becomes even more complicated when only two hundred authorizations remain in stock, Vladimir Florea, chair of the Union of Transporters and Roads Workers Employers’ Association told IPN.
Igor Dodon, in his capacity as informal leader of the PSRM, announced that Ion Ceban will be the Socialist candidate for Chisinau mayor in the general local elections on October 20. Igor Dodon claims that Ion Ceban is the most prepared candidate, because he has been a member of the Chisinau Municipal Council for the last four years. According to Dodon, the next step is to secure a “non-aggression pact” with the bloc ACUM, whereby the parties would agree steer clear of geopolitical issues during the race.
President Igor Dodon promulgated, as a matter of emergency, Law 113 of June 15, 2019 that cancels the mixed electoral system and restorse the proportional one, based on party lists. The Law also includes amendments which improve the voting process for the diaspora, limit the amounts of campaing contributions, increase transparency of party funding and electoral campaigns and establish clear and transparent procedures for candidate list drafting.
Through defense minister Pavel Voicu, President Igor Dodon, a Russia supporter, is retaliating because the missile system sold by Moldova ended up in Ukraine, declares former defense minister Anatol Șalaru. "The opening bids for rocket complexes were set by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which were sold at auction", said Anatol Șalaru. Vitalie Marinuța, another former defense minister accused by Voicu of abuse in office, also dismissed the allegations. Voicu’s immediate predecessor, Eugen Sturza, says that the lack of cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and President Igor Dodon, during his term was what influenced Voicu’s allegations. Sturza wrote on Facebook that "he accepts the Socialist minister's frustrations, yet he cannot accept his falsehoods and lies".
the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has launched a commemorative circulating coin. It has a face value of 10 lei and is launched ahead of "Our Language" national holiday celebrated on August 31. Moldova’s greatest grief is that good people have left and continue to leave the country. Today, more than ever, Moldova needs its diaspora to support the complicated activity of restarting the economic and democratic processes in the country, to bring home the living standards of countries where they have stayed. Such opinions have been expressed during the Diaspora Days opening ceremony. Vadim Brînzan, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, came home after a 20-year stay in the United States of America. The minister says that almost ¾ of the country's Gross Domestic Product is due to diaspora remittances. But, according to him, this development model is unsustainable. "To develop and become a European country, with adequate wages, we must create conditions for those who are leaving to return home, to be able to develop a business, bringing with them the gained experience," said the minister.
