May 5: Ten new trolleybuses assembled at the repair shop of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company started to run on routes. The trolleybuses of AKSM model will replace old units of transport on routes No. 4, 8, 12, 13, 21, 24, 25 and 28. Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality proposes purchasing another 50 trolleybuses. The cost of a trolleybus assembled in Chisinau is €165,000. The new trolleybuses include places for hand luggage, USB power sockets for charging electronic devices, LED-based optical blocks, heated mirrors, ramps for wheelchair users, air conditioning and video surveillance systems.

May 7: The municipality of Chisinau plans to open five new kindergartens in the capital city this year and earmarked 29 million lei for the purpose. It is also intends to extensively repair and outfit nine new groups in five early education institutions for being reopened. The Chisinau City Hall said that about 180 million lei was allocated this year for the repair and other needs of educational institutions in the capital city, namely kindergartens, secondary schools, lyceums and extra-school centers. The money will be used to repair the roofs and sanitary, heating and electrical systems.

May 7: An autobiographical volume of master Eugen Doga entitled “My Life as It Was Meant to Be” was launched in Chisinau. The publication appeared with financial support from the Chisinau City Hall in connection with the 85th birthday of the composer. The launch involved personalities from the field of culture, while the Chamber Orchestra “Camerata Chișinău” led by conductor Mihai Amihalachioaie gave a concert of classical music. Attending the event, deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Cutasevici said that a number of projects will be implemented this year, which was declared the Year of Eugen Doga. The book “My Life as It Was Meant to Be” is a special accomplishment that will be definitely followed by other volumes. The current book tells about the secrets of the composer’s childhood and the children will be able to find out how a person can become a genius.

May 12: Lanes restricted to public transport appeared on Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd in Chisinau. The marking works started last night, from Ion Creangă St, and will continue on both sides up to Ciuflea St. “Other dedicated lanes will appear on the streets suggested earlier. The working group is now performing all the legal procedures,” said mayor Ion Ceban.

May 12: The municipal training center for children and adolescences who need special education conditions was outfitted with equipment for learning trades. Currently, this education institution is attended by 60 students who study such specialties as “Home caregiver for sick persons”, “Tailor”, “Shoemaker” and “Plasterer”. To introduce a new specialty that is in demand – “Computer operator”– there were purchased 15 computers. The activity forms part of the Training Program “Development of ecologist skills and ecologization of public schools in the municipality of Chisinau”.

May 20: Sports furniture will appear in the parks of the capital city as from July. Vasile Efros, head of the Division’s Territorial Development and Environment Unit, has told that the sports furniture will be installed in parks in all the districts of the municipality of Chisinau. There will be set up tennis tables, chess tables and arm-wrestling tables. A sum of over 1.54 million lei was earmarked in the 2022 municipal budget for installing sports furniture.

May 23: New waste storage platforms will start to be created in the capital city in the second half of June. Vasile Efros, head of the Division’s Territorial Development and Environment Unit, has told that the waste storage platforms will be built because the tubes into which waste is thrown in some of the apartment buildings at present will be closed. The platforms will be set up near apartment buildings in all the districts of Chisinau. Containers for recyclable waste, such as glass, metal and plastic, and containers for biodegradable waste will be placed on those platforms. Forty platforms will be created in total.

May 23: Vasile Moroi has become the new district head of Buiucani, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban announced today. Moroi’s previous job was head of department at the Botanica District Head’s Office, having 11 years of experience in the local administration under his belt.

May 24: Fifty public transport stations in Chisinau are being rehabilitate together with the platforms. The seriously damaged stations in all the districts of Chisinau will be repaired, mayor Ion Ceban announced. Also, double pavilions are set up at the stations with a large flow of passengers. A sum of 4 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for executing the works. 1 million lei will go to maintain the stations.

May 25: The Chisinau City Hall this year has allocated 36 million lei for extensively repairing the stairs in 75 apartment buildings in the capital city. Mayor general Ion Ceban said the addresses were chosen depending on the number of relevant requests. Works to replace windows (25 apartments), roofs and utility networks are underway at several addresses or will start soon.

May 25: Approximately 9,000 children will rest at municipal camps this summer. The price of a ticket for a 15-day stay at day camps was set at 2,250 lei. The parents will pay 450 lei, which is 20% of the price of the ticket. At permanent municipal camps, the price of a ticket is 3,200 lei for a period of ten days and 3,840 lei for a period of 12 days. Thirteen day camps will work in Chisinau in summer, at primary and secondary education institutions where 1,111 children are awaited. A sum of 2.15 million lei was earmarked for the purpose. As many as 6,550 children will rest at the permanent municipal summer camps “Alunelul” (Bardar), “Poienița Veselă” (Dănceni), “Cireșarii” (Vadul lui Vodă) and 20.6 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose.

May 28: Mircea cel Batran Boulevard in Chisinau’s Ciocana sector will be extended. Additionally, the trolleybus line passing through the neighborhood will be extended to Bucovina Street. The project presented by the Chisinau Mayor’s Office is expected to be completed in 30 months. The project will improve traffic in the area. Motorists will no longer have to drive around Milescu Spătarul Street and exiting the city will become easier as well. The street extension, as well the trolleybus line extension to Bucovina Street, will also come with the construction of a dispatch center, a roundabout, street lighting and parking lots.

May 28: From September, kindergartens no.3 and no.18 in Chisinau’s Buiucani sector will reopen after extensive rehabilitation of the buildings and playgrounds. They also received new furniture and end equipment. The Chisinau City Hall states that after more than 20 years of inactivity, it was decided to reopen the facilities amid a rising number of applications for public kindergarten services. During 2021-2022, over 25 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for the rehabilitation of the two kindergartens, which have a total capacity of 240 places.

May 31: The General Public Amenities Division of Chisinau at the end of June will purchase six tractors that will be used to transport waste and for snow removal works in winter. Almost 4 million lei was earmarked in the municipal budget for purchasing the six new tractors. The General Public Amenities Division now has 55 tractors for transporting waste, but needs about 80 units of transport that would work mainly in yards of apartment buildings.

May 31: An automated irrigation system will be installed this summer in green areas in Botanica district of Chisinau, near the sidewalks along the section of Dacia Blvd between Trandafirilor St and Grădina Botanică St, including the City’s Gates. “The green areas in this part of the city include bushes and flowers, but that is not the best composition. That’s why it was decided to sow grass seeds and to later set up systems for irrigating the lawn so as to ensure the city has a more pleasant aspect,” Vasile Efros, the head of the Division’s Territorial Development and Environment Unit. The winner will be made known in the middle of June. The municipality’s investment in the project is 6 million lei. The money was earmarked in the 2022 municipal budget.
