Political expert Ion Tăbârță said the Constitutional Court’s judgment concerning the circumstances that justify the dissolution of Parliament brought to an end a long period of uncertainty and now all the political players should focus on the campaign prior to the snap elections. He anticipates that surprises will be witnessed at the snap elections on the segment of the right, IPN reports.

According to Ion Tăbârță, we have witnessed a situation when a minority group with only 15 seats of MP managed to win against the majority.

“The Constitutional Court’s decision comes to bring a stage of uncertainty to an end. We have a unique case when a minority managed to impose its will on a majority in Parliament and to induce snap elections. The PSRM and the Shor Party should assume the mistake. They could have voted in the Grosu Government and snap elections wouldn’t have been held then. But they aimed to conserve Parliament and also the schemes from which they profit,” the expert stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to him, the snap parliamentary elections are inevitable and the date of elections will depend on the Constitutional Court’s conclusion about the constitutionality of the Parliament decision by which the state of emergency was declared.

“We see that Igor Dodon is desperately trying to oppose and looks like Plahotniuc who attempted to keep power at any cost. All the forces should now concentrate on snap elections. We are coming closer to the electoral period and will have a competition process between the political players,” stated Ion Tăbârță.

He noted that the next configuration of Parliament could be a surprise for society as new forces of the right could enter the next legislative body.  Plahotniuc and Shor do not want snap elections because they will lose their influence and will spend huge sums of money.

After the Constitutional Court ruled that there are circumstances for dissolving Parliament, President Maia Sandu is to sign a decree on the dissolution of Parliament and to set the date of snap elections within at least 60 days and at most three months of the signing of the dissolution decree.
