Legislative elections cannot take place now, but the protest organizers profit from the sorrow of the people, lawyer Ion Dron, who heads the Center for Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring, said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“I’m for early elections, but these cannot take place now. These could be held if a new head of state is not elected in March, when the tenure of the current President expires. Now these leaders take the people to the streets and profit from their sorrow. If the people come to protest this Sunday, I would like to hear some concrete demands from these, not only slogans that they want early elections, which suit someone,” stated Ion Dron.

The jurist considers the early elections at this moment are dangerous for Moldova owing to the geopolitical situation. “The West is in a war with Russia and we are engaged on the part of the West. We face the danger of a rebellion that would change the geopolitical course of the country. I cannot go towards early elections with these people,” he said.

However, Ion Dron said he supports the protesters. “The people must protest and the protest spirit should not disappear, but the protests must be within the law,” he stated.
