The people’s incomes can be raised and the illegal payment of salaries can be discouraged by reducing the tax burden, said ex-Premier Ion Chicu, who heads the Party of Development and Unity of Moldova. Chicu noted the diminution of taxes will make the people work at home. The first stage of the fiscal reform was implemented 2018 by introducing the common tax rate of 12% for private individuals, IPN reports.
In an electoral debate at IPN, the former Prime Minister said that if his party enters Parliament, they will come with initiatives aimed at ensuring the economic development of the country, the fiscal reform being a priority for the party led by him.
“The capacity of the state to develop the social areas depends on economic development. We have a model oriented to the export of raw material and labor force. The labor force or the human capital is the main resource of the country. To keep the people at home, the tax burden on salaries should be reduced. The first step consisted in the reduction of taxes on privative individuals’ incomes and the social contributions paid by enterprises from 23% to 18%. This step, besides leaving more money into people’s pockets, increased budget revenues by bringing back a part of the underground economy to the legal circuit,” stated Ion Chicu, who runs for MP on behalf of the Party of Development and Unity of Moldova.
He noted that the real justice sector reform will be done when the political factor is excluded from the judicial system. They are in favor of the external assessment of judges and prospectors if the appraisal commission consists of renowned specialists from outside the system, both from Moldova and abroad.
“Corruption is the biggest problem in the process of attracting investments. The legislative power stages an assault on the justice sector and this diminishes confidence in the system and camouflages the problems in the other sectors. Corruption and injustice start form political interference. The only solution for fighting corruption is to ensure efficient control of costs and incomes as we have statements showing that a house in Chisinau costs €11,000 or a Porsche costs 10,000 lei. It’s clear that the data are erroneous,” stated Ion Chicu,
In the electoral debate, the ex-Premier didn’t miss the chance of criticizing President Maia Sandu.
“We do not need those who in 2013-2014, without any hesitation conceded the Airport, paved the way for the theft of the US$1 billion. Unlike the Government of 2019, I had the capacity and courage to take from Shor €4.5 of the €9 paid by each passenger as airport tax,” said Chicu.
In the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, the Party of Development and Unity of Moldova will be under No. 13.
The seventh electoral debate of the series “Analyzing Electoral Supply and Demand-2021” also involved the representatives of the Working People’s People and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”.
IPN’s eighth electoral debate set for July 8, 11:15am, will feature the election contenders: the Democratic Party of Moldova, the National Unity Party and the Professionals Movement “Speranţa-Nadejda”.
