Ion Ceban: One should mandatorily vote if they want to change something

The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor Ion Ceban, after casting his ballot, transmitted a message to the voters, saying that one should mandatorily vote if they want to change something, IPN reports.

The Socialist candidate came to vote together with his wife and their two children. He said the youngest ones should be familiarized with this democratic exercise. He called on the citizens to vote a mayor who would be preoccupied with the concerns of the municipality, not with politics or ideologies. He said he will travel today through the city and will later follow the election results at the party’s head office.

Ion Ceban’s wife Tatiana said she is proud of her husband and of the fact that he is supported by a larger number of citizens of Chisinau and by a professional team. She noted she voted for a more beautiful city and for a mayor who would do what’s best for the capital city.

A number of 634 547 ballots were printed for the mayoral runoffs. Of these, 408 080 are in the Romanian language. There is no minimum turnout of voters required for the runoff vote. The candidate who gains the largest number of votes emerges victorious. The elected mayor will hold office for a year, until the local general mayoral elections of 2019.
