Ion Ceban: I do not have a political issue with Andrei Nastase, but we have to share the issues of Chisinau municipality

Socialist candidate for mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, argues that he and the candidate of the ACUM bloc for the same position, Andrei Năstase, do not have political differences, they only have to solve together the problems of Chisinau. According to him, regardless of the outcome in the second round on November 3, there are problems that bear no delay in Chisinau and must be solved as soon as possible, IPN reports.

"We do not have a political issue now; we have thousands of problems that we must solve together. This is my message to absolutely everyone. I did not accuse, criticize, I did not respond to the provocations of any candidate. I know we must work now to overcome the difficulties. Because in four years we might face another problem - we will have no one to address because people keep on leaving, " said Ion Ceban on" Emphasis on Today "show, TVR Moldova.

Ion Ceban says that irrespective of the voting results in the second round, there is no faster and more efficient solution than having a coalition similar to the one existing in the Parliament. “We have 22 councillors out of 51, we have the best score. The ACUM bloc has 19. Thus, technically, today we have over 40 mandates and we can speed up work, "said Ion Ceban.

The PSRM candidate is convinced that the scenario proposed by him will be accepted because there is no alternative. "I understand that there is some reluctance, in one way or another, but we had these discussions when the coalition was set up at the central level and I said," Dear colleagues, yes, our opinions differ at political level. Still we have to do the things that people expect us to.”

Political commentator Ion Tăbârță is of the opinion that if the latest trends are maintained and the candidate of the ACUM bloc does not make a terrible blunder, it cannot be ruled out the geopolitical vote will predominate this time too, that is not a vote for someone, but against someone. The expert believes that the proposal made by Ion Ceban is a strategic one and is a move to the right of the political arena to attract as many voters as possible from this segment. "And Mr. Nastase, obviously, will not reply now, as doing so he risks losing a lot of potential voters, in the sense that they will not go to the polling stations," he said.

Ion Ceban has got through to the second round with 40.19% of the voters’ ballots, while his counter-candidate Andrei Năstase from the ACUM bloc – with 31.08% of the votes.
