Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban leveled new criticism at the government. According to him, the representatives of the central administration try to impede the projects initiated in Chisinau. The mayor general complains that the largest part of the municipal budget is transferred to the central budget and the capital’s budget gets back not much, but Chisinau transfers the largest amounts as taxes in the country, IPN reports.
Mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban criticized again the government, saying professionals are dismissed at the upper level and persons obedient to the new government are hired instead of these.
“During half a year, I didn’t see any result of the work of this government except for the fact that it subjugated all the state institutions, the Prosecutor’s Office, SIS, Teleradio-Moldova. The party’s people are named everywhere. Where is transparency and meritocracy about which they spoke? Why were hundreds of professionals dismissed? They had objections to some who were politically affiliated. But why did they dismiss the rest. There were fired persons who worked for 20 years at state institutions,” Ion Ceban stated in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel.
The mayor also said that he has tense relations with representatives of the central public administration. He complained that the Government leaves the capital city without funds at a time when a large part of the money accumulated in Chisinau is directed to the state budget.
“No matter what problems they try to cause to the municipality, we will cope. Their goal is to hamper us, to block our projects. They take all the city’s funds. The situation wasn’t like this during the time of Dorin Chirtoacă. They do not transfer back anything. Even with such financial difficulties, next year we will implement more projects than this year. Chisinau is the only local administration that compensates 40% of the heating costs directly through the bill, but not for everyone, but only for those whose incomes do not exceed 3,000 lei per family member. We spend 90 million lei a year in this regard. Owing to these incompetent persons from the government, who could not negotiate and solve the problems, we must increase the sum by 53 million lei,” stated Ion Ceban.
As the central public authorities decided, the price of a gigacalorie of heat in the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți will be compensated by the Government in the amount of 67%. The measure covers 222,000 consumers in Chisinau and Bălți that are supplied with heat in a centralized way.
