At least one parking lot for campers will exist in Moldova until 2016. Such a deadline is set in the plan of action for implementing the strategy for developing tourism “Tourism 2020”. A private investor expressed interest in the project. This makes the authorities optimistic that the parking lot may be set up next year.

Victor Ciobanu, division head at the Tourism Agency, has told IPN that that the investor intended to build a parking lot in Orhei, but didn’t reach an agreement with the owner of the identified plot. But the investor didn’t give up and is looking for another plot.

Victor Ciobanu said that in Moldova a parking lot for campers is needed as many interesting festivals are held here and they are popular. “The auto tourism is rather developed in Europe. Many persons vacation with campers. Parking lots for them exist in most of the European countries. We also need such lots,” he stated.

The parking lot for campers will ensure access to the water simply and sewerage system and to electric power. It will be guarded and cleaned.
