The terminal in the departure lounge of the Chisinau International Airport will be extended from 2,300 to 4,000 square meters. The areas will be outfitted according to the international requirements and standards, IPN reports.

Director General of SRL “Avia Invest” Petru Jardan told a news conference that owing to the performed works, it will be possible to increase the airport’s service provision capacity from 420 to 750 passengers an hour.

The works will start this September. They will cost an estimated €10 million.

In parallel, a tender contest will be held ion July to select a designer for the modernization and reconstruction of the platform, escalators and launching and landing pads. The works form part of the third stage of modernizing the airport and will cost about €30 million.

Petru Jardan said the works on the landing pad will have to be coordinated with the airlines so as not to disrupt the flights. The works will be mainly executed at night.
