Intelligence Service deny accusations on repressing an opposition party
The Intelligence Service of Moldova (SIS) denies and considers as slanderous and irresponsible the statements of MP Dumitru Braghis regarding the so-called involvement of the Services in activities related to preparing and starting ordered repressions against the leadership of the Social Democracy Party, a statement of the Service says.
According to the cited source, SIS regrets that MP Dumitru Braghis, being an official person, grounded his statements on an anonymous letter without even checking the information and informing the specialised bodies, “therefore voicing a suspect interpretation and at the same time, biased for the society”. “We term his public statements a provocation and defiance of the moral values, an attempt to involve SIS in political games in order to discredit and intimidate the Service as a national authority in the field of state’s security”, the statement also says.
Dumitru Braghis, the leader of the SDP told a press conference on February 19 that he holds information from sources close to law enforcement bodies, according to which there are attempts against the PDS leadership which are prepared in order to “make it obey the government”. Braghis exemplified by a letter containing such information. According to it the employees of SIS are involved in these actions. Braghis said the attacks of the authorities against SDP and its leaders and members became more frequent and more intense as the general local elections approach.
