Inquiry commission on privatizations to present report in Parliament in 120 days

The special inquiry commission on privatizations and concessions of public property has 120 days to analyze and present a report to Parliament on the privatizations carried out in the last decade, announced the commission’s chairman, MP Igor Munteanu (ACUM/DA).

According to information provided by the Public Property Agency, 38 concession and public-private contracts were signed in the period from 2013 to 2019. Igor Munteanu said the inquiry will focus in particular on 4-5 high-profile privatizations, which will be announced next week.

Privatizations will be checked for compliance with the law and the commission will look at any evidence that could indicate corruption. Witnesses and PPA officials will be subpoenaed to provide relevant testimony.

The special inquiry commission on privatizations was established by Parliament on June 18.
