Initiative group prepares European integration by reunion with Romania

The initiative group for forming the Council of European Integration of the Republic of Moldova by reunion with Romania – a civic movement that aims to pave the way for the reunion with Romania – said this is the only natural and legitimate solution for avoiding the tragedy of a country in a state of collapse.

“The initiative group calls on the political parties with a patriotic, unionist vocation and with other strategic orientations, of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, remarkable personalities of the public life, veterans of the national liberation movement, participants in the war with Russia of 1990-1992, service members in reserve and in retirement, all the citizens of good faith, to support the Council of European Integration of the Republic of Moldova by reunion with Romania,” says an appeal that was read in a news conference at IPN by reserve officer Gheorghe Răileanu.

Chairman of the public association Center for the Protection of Fundamental Rights “Sirius” Anatolie Petrici, a member of the initiative group, said a destructive seed was sowed in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova by Article 13, concerning the Moldovan language, and by Article 111, concerning the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. “The current Republic of Moldova failed. As of 1995, we haven’t had a constitutional legal framework based on which the state would function,” stated Anatolie Petrici.

General Ion Costaş made a call to integration into the European Union by reunion with Romania. “Only this way we can enter a civilized, European society to which we have aspired for so long and we also have the necessary contacts for the union and integration into the EU,” stated the general.

University professor Valeriu Dulgheru, doctor habilitate, said the situation is serious, especially after the last meeting of the two “presidents” held in Condrița. He referred to the meeting between President Igor Dodon and the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky, who was called “President” by Dodon. This fact was criticized by the opposition and opinion leaders.

“We heard declarations of union with Romania during the 30 years, but the union wasn’t achieved. Those were sterile declarations and the Council should now pledge to build something real – a platform by which to ensure the reunification,” stated the professor.

Union Council chairman Gheorghe Viță noted that 29 years of independence of the Republic of Moldova will be celebrated in a month. “What did we obtain during these 29 years? Nothing! We do not have an economy, while the industry turned into a pile of scrap metal. Our agriculture is in a coma. We have a deeply corrupt political class and do not have justice. We do not have the rule of law. The crime rate rises. Population’s migration expands. The reintegration of the country is the only way out,” he said.
