Families living in damaged houses and those exposed to risk to fall as result of slides of the village Tohatin could be evacuated, the head of Exceptional Situation Department of municipality Chisinau, Artur Chiianu, announced during Monday meeting of mayoralty. According to him, representatives of specialized services in the problems related to slides are on the spot to explore the situation, depending on results, there will be done works of stopping slides or the inhabitants of these houses will be evacuated. He also noted that for the moment the houses are not in danger, as there are about 70-80 meters from the focus and the houses. Chiianu noted that the slides produced because of water accumulation in a lake not far from the village. The mayor of the village, Sergiu Cibotaru, said that the lake was not built deliberately, the water being accumulated from 7 sources in this spring. The interim mayor of Chisinau municipality, Vasile Ursu, required to be examined all active slides zones of municipality, and appropriate services too undertake all measures to prevent and stop slides. About 30 houses of Tohatin were damaged by slides in one of those actives 7 zones of slides. According to data of the State Association AGeoM, there are registered 88 slides in municipality Chisinau, situated on a surface of 241 hectares. The majority of slides are caused by anthropogenic activity, especially by tress cutting and construction works done on high places, increase of waters with 4-5 meters compared to natural one. There are registered in Moldova 16,000 sectors affected by slides, 2,332 of them are active. Now about 1,043 localities are affected by slides, 48 of them need to be re-placed.
