Residents of Bubuieci commune submitted a notification to the Chisinau Municipal Council whereby they inform that on July 6 at 8am they will start a nonstop protest against the storing of waste at the Purcel mine located on Uzinelor St near their commune.
The announcement was made in the July 4 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council while the councilors discussed the rise in the waste management fee, IPN reports.
Based on an agreement with inhabitants of Bubuieci, the waste collected in Chisinau is to be taken to the waste dump situated on Uzinelor St until July 5, when the 30-day period given to the municipal authorities to find another storage place expires. Such an agreement was reached after residents of Bubuieci blocked the access of garbage trucks from Chisinau to the local waste dump during several days at the start of June.
In the hope that the transportation of waste to the dump in Tanatareni village of Anenii Noi district could be resumed, the Chisinau Municipal Council on July 4 decided to allocate 39 million lei for laying out the waste dump there, building infrastructure in the village and compensating locals for the damage caused to them.
