A woman suffered fractures when she was hit by a car driven by a police officer under the influence of alcohol in the morning of July 14. Immediately after the accident, the policeman was subject to a medical examination and it was established that he was in an advanced state of inebriation. The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office instituted criminal proceedings, IPN reports.
The accident happened on Grigore Ureche St in Chisinau. The vehicle driven by the police officer was projected into an electricity pole after this struck the woman. As a result of the impact, the victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The 23-year-old driver is an employee of the National Patrolling Inspectorate. He was remanded in custody for 72 hours. He faces up to four years behind bars.
