Individuals likely to be allowed to withdraw up to 10,000 euros from country without origin documents

The parliament passed Friday in the first reading a draft law that allows resident and non-resident individuals from Moldova to withdraw banknotes, coins and cheques in domestic and foreign currencies worth up to 10,000 euros or the equivalent, without demonstrating their origin. The parliament approved these amendments to simplify the procedure of withdrawal of currency through Moldova’s customs border. According to lawmakers and the Customs Department, these norms correspond to present customs border crossing standards and principles applied by the European community. At present, resident individuals can withdraw up to 5,000 dollars from Moldova without showing any permit, while non-resident individuals can withdraw maximum 1,000 dollars.
